Succulent Care 101

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Succulents have gained popularity over the years, and we don't think they will be going anywhere anytime soon. There are so many different varieties, sizes, and colors of succulents. They bring a gorgeous pop of color and style to any sunny window!

Succulents LOVE sunlight, and they need about 6 hours per day. Building on that, try to remember to rotate them regularly so they are receiving sun from all sides and don't start to lean.

Succulents don't need much water. In the desert, where they grow naturally, it is arid and dry. Try to mimic those conditions- chose the right soil, and don't water too frequently. Cactus soil or mix potting soil with sand, pumice, or perlite is ideal.

Overwatering can kill your succulent, so let the soil dry between waterings. Also remember, succulents are growing in spring and summer, and resting in the fall and winter. When you do water your succulents, water directly into the soil until the water is draining from the drainage holes.
